Its purpose is not to replace contract management or quality inspection, but to anticipate schedule deviations before they appear as physical delays at the site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In technical Procurement, expediting turns delivery promises into evidence of progress. Equipment may formally be \u201con schedule\u201d while vendor drawings have not yet been approved, critical raw material has not been purchased, or a FAT has not been scheduled. Therefore, the expediter needs to monitor the chain of milestones that supports the final date, rather than merely asking the supplier for the expected shipping date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The intensity of monitoring should be proportional to package criticality. Standardized items may be controlled through milestones; engineered-to-order equipment, long lead items, and critical systems may require periodic meetings, progress records, supplier visits, and integration with Engineering, QA\/QC, Project Controls, and logistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What expediting is and what problem it solves<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-a3a-destaque\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Expediting does not wait until the delivery date to discover a delay. Waiting until the planned delivery date removes precisely the ability to anticipate causes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the beginning, the expediter needs to confirm:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>the supplier&#8217;s detailed schedule;<\/li><li>document list and submission dates;<\/li><li>critical materials or components;<\/li><li>relevant subcontractors;<\/li><li>manufacturing capacity and sequence;<\/li><li>inspection and FAT milestones;<\/li><li>ready for shipment date;<\/li><li>logistics requirements;<\/li><li>responsible parties and escalation channels.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This baseline needs to be reconciled with the <strong>Procurement Plan<\/strong> and the master schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What should be monitored<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Effective monitoring works with evidence. Depending on the package, the following may be verified:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Supplier engineering<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Drawings, datasheets, lists, calculations, procedures, and other vendor data. Document delays can prevent manufacturing even when no equipment is yet visibly late.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Purchasing and subcontractors<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Critical components purchased by the supplier itself, especially those with long lead times or limited market availability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Manufacturing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Raw-material release, start of production, assembly, intermediate stages, and completion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Quality<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ITP approval, inspections, NCRs, tests, and FAT. A delay of only a few weeks in drawing approval can consume the available float before manufacturing even begins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For these packages, the expediter should
